In summer
You walk to the lake. The western shore has pebble beaches for swimming, and you can paddle the lake by kayak or SUP. From Ukanc a path follows the Savica river to the Savica hut, then steps lead up to the waterfall.
Ukanc and Bohinj
The lake, Vogel and Savica from our door
Ukanc is a hamlet at the western end of Lake Bohinj, inside Triglav National Park. From here paths lead to the Savica waterfall, up to Vogel and round the lake.

In winter
The Vogel cable car valley station is 250 m from the house. The gondola takes you up to the Vogel ski area above the lake.
All year
A footpath runs round the lake, about 12 km. Bled, Pokljuka and Radovljica make half-day trips by car.
Getting here
- By car from Ljubljana: take the motorway towards Jesenice to the Lesce exit, then through Bled and Bohinjska Bistrica to the lake. About an hour and a quarter.
- Along the lake: from Ribčev Laz the road follows the southern shore to Ukanc at the far end, 5 km.
- In Ukanc: our address is Ukanc 21. You park at the house.
- Without a car: by train to Bohinjska Bistrica, then by bus to Ukanc.
